SPREADING SMILES- 20TH NOVEMBER

SPREADING SMILES- 20TH NOVEMBER

Picture Swoyambhu Nath Temple and the instant thought that would cross one's mind is that of men and women rushing through the crowded footpaths for their morning and evening koras, lit butter lamps , spinning prayer wheels, monkeys scattered around in search of food,   the spectacular 365 staircase which makes one feel like one has achieved something really great when one reaches the temple up there (unaware or deliberately ignorant of the fact that they are not the only ones to have done so) ,the picturesque view of Kathmandu valley, urging one to instantly take out one's camera and get a panoramic shot of it, breathtaking, isn’t it? But very few would observe the little ones around the place, mostly poor clad unprivileged children with the least expectation of receiving a second glance, running around, begging. Hence, we, the team of Nyeshang Events  decided to let these children know they are special and deserve to be cared. We do not encourage begging so we decided that rather than giving them money we ought to do something special for them.

Team Nyeshang events visit to Pashupatinath Temple .. The children there can teach you a lot of lessons about life. They are street smart , very vocal , fearless and knows what is it like to be poor, living under no roofs. They dive in the temple river to collect coins post cremation with their very skillfully designed magnetic tool (no matter even if it's winter time and the water icy cold) . Mahesh , one of the kids says that he left home because he wanted to study. He stays around the temple begging and sometimes working as a guide, just to make his living and to be able to continue going to school.

Binod Gurung, an actor, director and a musician from Manang is a remarkable artist who have always worked hard towards bringing forth the Manangi culture through his Music and other initiatives. Talking about his singing career in Manangi language, he says,  I began with my career in Manangi songs with the aim to save our songs & language. Today, i feel happy to see the younger generation of Nyeshang creating wonderful songs in our language. Seeing them makes me feel that I have succeeded in some way”.

MIDNIGHT THOUGHT BY LAXMI GURUNG

  •  MIDNIGHT THOUGHT

  •           There has been a lot going on these days.I have been so happy with MMC taking away the A division league title, after all it's the home team and nothing feels like it.  Apart from what's going on in capital, I'm more proud and happy and excited all at same time watching Nepal cricket team playing for ICC t20 cricket world cup. Matter of fact is that I am very less updated with sports. My knowledge regarding the sports in Nepal is limited, well at least that's what I believe. But never had I missed a day when it comes to hooting for my favorite team or my Country. When MMC was playing for the league and it was just a few points behind the title, we were all just keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for that few digits like it's the only thing we have ever wanted so badly. You see the craziness of being so desperately wanting your favorite team to win is beyond any boundaries and when something unfair happens, the craziness gets wild. Even now when I watch the video of the MMC, forever clapping 32 times for Nabin Neupane (who was banned for 1 year by ANFA), letting the reason aside, I feel amazed and the way people have supported him is a matter of great respect. I salute that!!
  •          Cricket has never been my cup of tea. As far as I remember, I once heard someone saying cricket is a game of fools (with all due respect) and I somewhat believe that because I never understand cricket, all I could see was the batsmen taking runs and I knew more runs means getting close to win the game. Thanks to Nepal cricket team , my enthusiasm to know more about cricket grew more when it all came to ICC t20 World Cup. Never had I been so excited and so eager to know this space if it wasn't for the Nepalese team and the victory over Hong kong was something really BIG to be proud of . I mean, common being able to get till here itself is a matter of pride and Nepal cricket team has done That!!! We live in a country where bandhs and strikes depends on the moods of some political parties and we take that in a developing country like Nepal where infrastructures are so limited, be it in any field, it is something great to talk about our Nepalese getting in a World Cup and watching them waving our Nepali flag in front of the world. It doesn't matter if we win or loss, the spirit of never giving up n moving on is what makes the team alive. I don't say we lack talents or visions to reach at the top but it is indeed true that even when we have so much talents growing in an individual  be it a team, we haven't been able to polish them the way they should be. When this is the high time we think of our country's well being, most of the people are busy making their own money and ignoring what can be done for the betterment of the country. When the whole country is rejoicing over the victory and coming together as one to support the country, the Nepal oil corporation increases the price of  petrol and the whole country is in agony again. See this is the problem here. We will have protests again. We will have bandhs again if the prices do-not get down and the results will eventually affect everyone. I don't think someone can even think of making his/her offspring something great if he/she has to think twice before feeding them.I don't know if it's the poverty or corruption or other reason being overrated but I do think its a high time we think about what's good for the country rather than thinking the best for ourselves. Nepali timi rahanchau kaha,Nepal narahein.

College Hunting, Hostel Life, Nostalgic phase and more

After finishing my +2, my father questioned me, as it is usual, about my future prospects. Since I have always wanted to study Psychology, we began pursuing colleges in Kathmandu that taught so. My father and I hunted down the colleges, but never found any suitable ones that focused on Psychology. I mean to say, the colleges never had any majors particularizing on Psych. So, we concluded that since there were no suitable colleges here, we would look in another place. As during our holiday in India few years ago, my father had mentioned that it would be a suitable place to study owing to the familiarity with our own country, it was final. India was the place I would be studying, He consulted with a cousin, who had studied in Bangalore before, and made us acquainted with a dealer and that was it.
I was on a plane to Bangalore after some few weeks and was admitted to Jain College soon thereafter. It is not the only option left to me as I was already a month late. The cousin before mentioned that Christ and St. Joseph’s were one of the best, and we were actually planning to get through; but somehow the admission didn't work through. After admitting me to a hostel near the college itself and helping me get acquainted for a few days, we bid farewell and I was left on my own.

The Hostel Life

The great thing about staying in a place near to college is that you really can manage your time more efficiently and there is no commuting cost whatsoever. But the only complaint I have about the place is that the neighborhood around is not an attractive place.  I mean to say, it is not a safe place. The hostel is great and the services functional, but the place around is quite dangerous to live, due to the slums around.

Things I like about the city

Bangalore is a place I think, mostly known, for its pleasant climate. The temperature moderately falls between 22-24°C even during winter! It does get chilly during mornings and evenings when the winds are high, and also quite hot when it is sunny during noon’s, but other than that, the weather is very pleasant.

Staying away from home for the first time- Nostalgia! Learning new things, being penny wise!

At first, for me, it was really overwhelming, since I had never been away from my family. (I had never even stayed at a hostel in my school days). But as time goes on, you get hang of everything and slowly I also stopped getting homesick. I am really thankful now towards my parents because if it was not for me studying here, I would never have learned so many things that I know today.  I am currently in my second semester and had passed my second semester with first division. You do learn many things on the way. I have really learned how to manage money, punctuality and fulfilling your duties. If being away from your loved ones is one of the conditions, I can say that it’s worth it. I can say that I am fairly happy here and satisfied with whatever I have been offered.

Message to the readers

I have fairly been told by people here in Bangalore and back in Kathmandu that getting admission in the colleges is not really appropriate to be done through a broker. They tend to increase the expenses and many even cheat us of money. So I prefer to get through the colleges through ones connections; relatives or acquaintances.
I also prefer others applying to depend mostly on word-on-mouth rather than the internet for hunting down colleges. You get to know more depth about the colleges from people than the internet. The internet can be less reliable at times.

Do's and Don't's While hunting for colleges in Bangalore

Do's

  • Do a thorough research about the colleges and the course offered.

  • Try to get in touch with friends and relatives who are or have studied in Bangalore, they can give you a better picture of the education scenario in the city  than the ones given in the internet.

  • If possible , live close to the college or hostels inside the college premises. You can save your travel expenses and above all, you feel secure.

Don't

  • Never take helps from brokers for you may end up coughing extra money , in fact much more than the regular fees excluding the broker charge.

love, Itself !! an article on love by Laxmi Gurung

LOVE , ITSELF !!!
As I sit here, my mind wanders and so does my gaze, away from the blank paper. I am suppose to write about Love, after all. When it comes to Love, the feeling deep down is so confusing. I don't understand Love but then who does, For real?

When I was a kid, I used to think holding hands together and sharing lunch is Love. When I was in high school, people used to exchange roses on Rose Day, I thought may be love resides in the smell of roses but as I grew up, my perception about Love changed. The way I see it and how people visualize it is different. They say it is all about the feeling but i wonder how long these feelings last? If its all about Promises, I believe promises are meant to break. If Love is about growing old together, I wonder if I will ever be able to compromise with the things that will eventually happen and takes one to give up on his/her perspectives about how the things should work in a relation.

Confusion. Its always there. They say Love conquers all but it makes you loose too.Not all the people in love have happy endings. There is a lot more inside stories behind.
Looking at the bright side,Love is the most wonderful feeling one can have,as long as it lasts. Its when you know the other person more than you know your own self. You feel the pain of other person like your own and smile when he/she is happy.happy. Isn't it so blissful to have someone who takes care of you, fights for you and most of all, accepts you the way you are:) So keep falling in love until and unless you don't find the other half who makes you Complete.

Love conquers all, "Are you ready Yet?"
